AUSTIN I.S.D. outdoor learning center
Blu Fish Collaborative is proud to take part in shaping the future of how Austin schools provide innovative spaces for children to learn and play. This new outdoor classroom joins an expansion of an existing campus in southeast Austin. The classroom includes a sensory garden, weather station, science area, reading/writing zone, experiment garden, and plenty of group activity areas. The sensory and experiment gardens give the students the opportunity to learn how different plants respond to changing weather, how to tend a garden, and to observe the fine character differences of different species. The weather station and science center give students space to observe their climate, read scientific instruments, and to form their own experiments. Shaded reading and writing areas can be used flexibly for many activities for groups or individuals or for a teacher to lead an outdoor lesson.
